The one thing to sort out before you come

How you get here

We'll write this out in detail, plainly, because it's the one thing you have to sort out in advance when coming to Vlekovna.

A view of the forest track leading to the chalet, with the final walking stretch

By car

A regular road runs to Bratrouchov near Jablonec nad Jizerou — set your navigation to Bratrouchov, not Vojtěšice. From there you continue along a gravel forest track. It’s driveable but uneven — we recommend an SUV or a vehicle with all-wheel drive, and in any case a slow, calm approach.

You’ll find the parking coordinates below. Before you arrive, we send you photographs of the whole route and the current road conditions.

For most of the year

You park at the nearer parking area P2, about 130 metres from the chalet. The last hundred and thirty metres are on foot along the gravel forest track — downhill to the chalet, uphill back to the car. About five minutes, even with luggage. In summer it is practically a stroll.

In winter

When there’s snow on the ground, you park at P1, at the end of the asphalt, about 550 metres from the chalet. From there a path leads through the forest, gently downhill. The path is usually snowy and may be slippery. The walk takes up to ten minutes, even with luggage.

If you prefer, you can shorten the walk from P1 by taking the trail straight down the slope to the chalet. It’s not the recommended route — walking downhill through snow with luggage isn’t for everyone — but for prepared guests it shortens the last stretch.

What we recommend:

  • Solid shoes with good grip. In winter, ideally with traction cleats — we have a few pairs to lend.

  • A head torch or flashlight if you arrive after dark. There is no lighting in the forest.

  • A sled or a luggage cart. We leave a few by the parking area.

  • Winter tyres in good condition. The parking area gets ploughed, but not always on the day it snows.

  • Plan to arrive in daylight. The first time, it’s easier when you can see.

Keys and entry

You enter the chalet with a code we send before you arrive. No key handover, no safe box — on the day, you enter the code and you’re home.

When it doesn’t work

If an unusual amount of snow falls or the road becomes impassable, we’ll get in touch first and work it out. In that case you get a full refund or we move your dates free of charge. That’s our responsibility, not yours.

Things to be aware of

Access is not step-free. It’s not suitable for a wheelchair or for guests with significantly limited mobility.

A pram won’t get through. With a small child, we recommend a baby carrier or backpack carrier.

Bring your groceries. The nearest shop is five kilometres away and you won’t want to go back.

And why it’s this way

Because if you could drive to the door, it wouldn’t be this quiet here.
